Kenta Kasai published his new book, Meditation and Modernity (Shunjusha, Tokyo)
Our research fellow Kenta Kasai published his book on Meditation. This is neither a guide nor an interpretation of some particular religious meditation texts. He intends to let the us reflect on our consciousness. In the beginning he tries to do it by showing Japanese city resident's familiarity to the punctual railway schedule. Then he criticizes our common sense on consciousness in reference to the concept of Altered States of Consciousness which considered to be central to meditation. Based on this theoretical examination, he enumerates various meditation traditions. This compact Japanese book has well reviewed and in 2nd print.
